DARTS (Disabled and Aged Regional Transportation System) is the non-profit organization contracted by the City of Hamilton to provide shared-ride, wheelchair accessible, door-to-door service throughout Hamilton. It functions as an accessible public service for seniors and people with disabilities and makes it possible for them to travel around the city.

DARTS employs over 150 workers, who ensure the service runs safely and efficiently for all its users. Without these workers, DARTS would be unable to provide accessible transit for all those who need it.

Unfortunately, the City of Hamilton does not provide stable and predictable annual funding for DARTS, despite its popularity and the vital services it provides. The lack of stable funding means that DARTS workers have been unable to review their Collective Agreement.

Hamilton needs DARTS, but DARTS needs stable funding to maintain a safe and healthy workforce and to continue providing a much-needed public service.

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED RESIDENTS OF HAMILTON, call on the Mayor Hamilton and Hamilton City Council to:

Ensure that DARTS receives stable and predictable annual funding.
